Hakoah FC vs Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC | Saturday 6 April
Hakoah u20s travelled to Bonnyrigg Eagles for the washed out R3 clash. Our team line up would be disrupted once again to accomodate our first grade team, with both our main strikers Marco Arambasic and Zachary Sapsford called into the first team starting line up.
The first half began with our lads playing exceptional football. Our back 5 starting with Yianis Mavrakis in goals, Jett Heilig, Josh Fuchs, Phillip Lapanaitis, Zach Pilemer all solid at the back. Our midfield and attackers, Pauli Araullo, Adam Strasser, Jarred Frack, Ben Fuchs, Joe Roddy and Michael Vakis combined really well. This was made evident when Phillip Lapanaitis crossed in a beautiful ball finding the head of Michael Vakis who headed the ball into the back of the net. 1-0, Hakoah.. It would be Michael Vakis again that would make it 2-0 after a great run and cross onto the box by Joe Roddy..Hakoah wouldn’t take long to make it 3 -0 when Phillip Lapanaitis stepped up and scored from the penalty spot after Vakis was fouled in the box. Hakoah again were awarded a penalty, and unselfishly Phillip Lapanaitis handed the ball to Michael Vakis for a hatrick, unfortunately it was saved by the keeper..
HT: Hakoah 3 Bonnyrigg 0
The second half would be see Joe Roddy (injured) and Ben Fuchs (1st grade bench) replaced by Thomas Mumford and Fenn Hodgson-YU. The second half would be more of a defensive role with our back 5 playing out of their skin led by our captain Jett Heilig and Josh Fuchs with Yiani making some exceptional saves..It would be Hakoah again scoring with Pauli Araullo controlling the ball in the penalty box and smashing into the net.. Hakoah with limited reserves, dug deep but would concede 2 goals near the end with one being an own goal..
