Hakoah FC vs St George City FC: NPL2 R6 Match Reports

Hakoah FC v St George City

1ST GRADE: 1-1

One for the purists. Hakoah FC welcomed St George City to Hensley Athletic field. Yet ultimately, both sides had to settle for a draw.

Hakoah as the home side found themselves playing with the majority of possession against the visitors who were happy to sit in a low block before fancying their chances on the counter. They had Zac Sapsford to thank for their equalizer mid-way through the second half.

St George City have both reason to be pleased and disappointed. Pleased cause they took a point off a strong Hakoah team. Disappointed cause they let a lead slip.

And the first goal came from exactly that, Paolo Mitry scoring from outside the box with a tidy finish. A lead of which they held going into the half time.

Not having much luck in the front third. Hakoah coach Luka Hrzina went to his bench for a spark. And it paid off. Yianni Spyrakis finding Zac Sapsford for the equalizer. Do not recognize the name? That’s because his come from their 20’s outfit.

U20: 2-0

Hakoah FC welcomed St George City FA on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Hensley.  Marco Arambasic would join the squad again albeit for the 1st half.  The game began slowly for the home team and would only get worse when Hakoahs skipper Jett Heilig was substituted after 10 minutes, This saw Michael Vakis drop back to the right  back position to assist Phillip Lapanaitis, Josh Fuchs, Zac Pillemer and of course Daniel Solsky in goals. Thomas Mumford coming back from injury would come on to play on the right wing. St George would not make things easy for Hakoah but lucky for Hakaoh they failed to capitalise on several chances. Our midfield combination of Pauli Araullo, Jared Frack, Adam Strasser and Ben Fuchs on the left wing had to work hard. It would take Hakoah late in the first half to take a 1-0  lead when Marco Arambasic pounced on some scrappy play in penalty box to poke the ball home.

HT 1-0.

The second half saw Angel Barreto come on for Marco upfront. St George would again have several opportunities but would be denied by Daniel Solsky.  Fenn Hodgson-YU replaced Adam Strasser in the middle. It would be Jarred  Frack with under 15 remaining in the game taking the the ball in the box after some good lead up play, smashing the ball home. 2-0 Hakoah.  Soon afterwards Jarred would be replaced by Dayan Garces, he to coming back from injury. The game would finish 2-0 and see our boys climb to second on the table. Next week our boys travel to Blacktown Spartans for a top of the table clash.

Injuries-Simon Kalinauskas, Joe Roddy.
